Snes9x4D, Snes9x4C, Snes9x4P and Netplay

It's been a long time since my last Post.

Currently i'm working again on Snes9x4X. Why X?

Just because i want to release crosscompiles for Dingoo, Caanoo and Pandora (later also Wiz). I fixed several Bugs and added Netplay. Netplay was already tested yesterday on Caanoo using Wifi (WPA2-PSK/AES) and my PC as Server.

So stay tuned for upcomming Releases.

Cheat support to Snes9x4D

Yesterday i added Cheat support to Snes9x4D. CHT-Files (used in ZSNES) are now supported. You have to put the {romname}.cht file into the savestate/sram folder.
This cheatfile gets loaded when rom is loaded. All cheats in this file are applied. Currently no ingame menu selection for cheats.

Release soon for Dingoo and Pandora.

Big Thanks for Donations!!

Currently working on Dingux-Toolchain, Snes9x4D, Gnuboy4D, LemonBoy

Currently I'm working on 3 projects:
-Windows Toolchain (DevKit) for Dingux
-Snes9x4D (Pandora support, Cheat support)
-Gnuboy4D (enhanced Scalers, Screenshots for Savestates, ...)
-LemonBoy (first Port)

LemonBoy has a speed problem. The Speed is always wrong.

Dungeon Master & Yoshi's Island for Snes9x4D on Dingux

Currently i'm working on DSP-2, OBC1 & FX1, FX2 support for Dingux. DSP-2 Chipset is almost implemented. I took the source from Snes9x 1.40. I had to rewrite most of the PPU stuff, but now it works and I can play Dungeon Master on Snes9x4D :-).

Additionally i'm activating FX1, FX2 Chipset support, but it's not that easy. The person who ported Snes9x to Zaurus (our base) did heavy changes on the whole code, so it's not that easy to get it working again. But Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island is almost playable at decent speed.
Star Wing/Star Fox is bugged. Winter Gold works, but very slow. Doom is the slowest i've seen so far. Dirt Trax FX & Stunt Race FX work a bit. Star Fox 2 & Vortex don't work or even get my Dingoo crash.

Oh and don't forget: OBC1 suport works :). I can play Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge.

Release is planed on upcomming Weekend.

Stay tuned!

Bad SaveStates - SaveStates are Bad

If you use Savestates on Dingoo with Dingux...it's always no good idea to use them. It's always better to use the inGame saves like SRAM on Snes9x.

So be carefull!

Porting Snes9x

Mh. Nah.

I found this post: Latest snes9x-SDL sources?
He has the same problem as me with Mipsel and the newest Snes9x version.

Because of the performance problems of the current Snes9x, i ported 1.51 to SDL and Dingux too. It uses a different APU implementation. Now it renders the sound in good quality. But the FPS are always still too slow. About 6-7fps.

The configuration has a deep influence of how fast the emulation runs. I tired several different combinations...but always too slow.

Now i'm going to port every version from 1.40->1.5x to see what the reason for the speed problems.

I also found the Zaurus Port of Snes9x 1.39 which was used to port it to Dingux.

Maybe i find a hint, when comparing this with Dingux port and original Snes9x 1.39.

Working on Snes9x 1.52 port to SDL (Dingux)

I'm currently working on an Snes9x 1.52 (current version) port for SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer) simply because there is none. As i read in thier Forum, they had one, but no one wanted to maintain it.

Today I managed to remove x11 and add SDL. The emulator already works on my Ubuntu x86 Linux and also on Dingux :-). Keymapping don't work, so i have to watch some Game intros.

The FPS are really slow 5-7fps :-/. I have to investigate more into that. Maybe it's only a wrong compiler setting, debugoutput or wrong configuration.

Who knows :-D ?

Update: It's an configuration issue.
Some screenshots running Winter Gold (FX2 Chipset) on Dingux (dingoo).

Hope you had a nice easter.

Stay tuned.
