Devmania 2011 report

Devmania 2011 was a great event as every year. I really appreciate the "hobby" atmosphere and the people!

Here are my pictures:





During the Overnight Contest we created, in 19 hours, a physic based game called "Pirate Bay".

As the last 3 years a multiplayer game won the event. This is a little bit sad, because many singleplayer games also have a great quality but the fun is of couse more with the multiplayer games.

Devmania 2011 Hobby Game Developer Meeting in Mainz

Since 2004 i'm attending at a Hobby Game Developer Meeting near Frankfurt named Dusmania. The Dusmania is now organized by a new Team called Devmania. I'm greatly appreciate this Meeting because of the so called OverNight Contest. You build a Team of about 2-4 Members and from 2 o'clock pm (Saturday) to 9-10 o'clock am (Sunday) you have to develop a Game. Graphic, Sound and Code. Everything!
Of cause you have to build something fresh, new and in correspondence to the Motto. Most of the time a Multiplayer Game wins ;-).
Multiplayer on one PC because of the Setup. So you have to develop a PC Game.

2006 - Dusmania - Beez 2006

2009 - Devmania - ZURUECKgefilmt
2010 - Devmania - 28 Brains Later

In 2009 we won the Contest with ZURUECKgefilmt (Back Shot). It's a two player game on one pc. You are two journalists and you have to film the police while the police beat protesters and bring back the films to the Press Stand.
At the end of the game the police turns crazy and slaughters all the protesters.


So what do we develop this year to win the contest another time?

Don't know :).

Devmania 2009 - Hobbyspieleentwickler Treffen

So wie jedes Jahr trafen sich diesmal viele Hobbyspieleentwickler in Mainz auf der Devmania. Da der Veranstalltungsort gewechselt hatte, wurde sie kurzerhand von Dusmania in Devmania umbenannt. Alles andere blieb beim alten. Gut so :-).

Für uns Schattenkinder hat es sich gelohnt, HORAY wir haben nun beim 3ten Anlauf den Overnight Contest gewonnen. Yeah.

Um was gehts:
Ihr kennt sicher alle das Prügelvideo von der "Freiheit statt Angst" Demo in Berlin vom 12.Sep.09.
In diesem Spiel, müsst Ihr als Reporter die prügelnden Polizisten filmen.
Für jedes Foto erhaltet Ihr einen Punkt. Aber seid vorsichtig, Rache könnte sich gegen euch richten ;-).
Falls euch die Kamera abgenommen wird, könnt Ihr eine neue am Pressestand abholen. Hier könnt Ihr auch zwischenzeitlich eure bereits geschossenen Fotos abgeben, damit Sie euch nicht von der Polizei abgenommen werden.

Gewonnen hat, wer zum Schluss am meisten Punkte hat. (Punktestand Zusammenrechnen!)

Achja, in den letzten 10Sekunden läuft die Polizei Amok! Also aufpassen.
